Unable to move SCCMContentLib

Posted: August 13, 2015 in Systems Administration

Hey all,

I was trying to move SCCMContentLib [and friends] on System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager, and as you have probably read from the SCCM Tools Help it’s rather easy:

  1. Open Command Prompt as an Administrator
       2.  Execute command: “ContentLibraryTransfer.exe -SourceDrive <current drive letter> -TargetDrive <new drive letter>”

“Example: ContentLibraryTransfer.exe -SourceDrive C -TargetDrive D”

Easy as Pie…, in my case I received the following error:

Starting the Process.. WHAM! “Input arguments are invalid”

I checked a few posts and some said to remove the .exe from “ContentLibraryTransfer.exe -SourceDrive C -TargetDrive D”

I tried it again…

WHAM!  “Input arguments are invalid”

I logoff from the server login as the SCCM Admin service account, re-run the command:

ContentLibraryTransfer.exe -SourceDrive C -TargetDrive D

a couple of minutes later…  Content Library Transfer is now complete !!

  1. The original user I was trying to execute the process was an SCCM Admin with all the roles and privileges, also a local server administrator.
  2. The other users was the service account created exclusively for SCCM

The important thing is that it worked, Enjoy!

This happened to me as well. An easier fix I found (thanks to your clues) was to launch the command prompt normally (without right-clicking and choosing Run as Administrator).
