I received a call a few days ago from a client that their Server (Windows 2008 reboots after stage 3 of Window Update.
I arrive on site and the Server keeps rebooting and rebooting… It’s been a while since I’ve seen this happen so I:

1. Insert the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 installation DVD.

2. Boot from the Windows Server 2008 CD.

3. On the installation window select “Repair your Computer” bottom left corner beneath the Install Now.

4. Select the Command Prompt option.

5. Write command “del C:\Windows\winsxs\pending.xml”.

6. Reboot server and remove Windows installation DVD.

On step 5 remove the ” ” from the command.

After that you are good to go.
